Commitment to Children’s Learning
At Coutts Crossing Preschool, we believe in viewing children as individuals, with a strong focus on children’s specific learning needs. We understand that all children learn at their own pace and are capable of achieving great things. Each child has unique interests and strengths and the ability to contribute to their communities. We value a calm and collaborative environment where children have choice and autonomy in their play experiences. As educators, we support this autonomy by allowing children to have a voice in everything that matters to them, including mealtimes and daily routines. We role model respectful communication and calming behaviours to set an example for the children.

Relationships with Children, Families and Community
Respectful relationships are central to children’s education and care. Developing strong, reciprocal relationships creates a sense of belonging for children and their families. We provide an inclusive, nurturing environment where children feel accepted and valued. We believe that families are a child’s first teachers, and we welcome parents and extended family to be involved in their child’s learning at preschool. Our connection to the local community is just as important. We aim to create meaningful engagement with the community and provide opportunities for children to interact and learn from others in the community.
Sustainability
We aim to promote awareness of our environmental responsibilities by making sustainable choices. Our resources are purchased items such as uniforms and intentional teaching moments. We educate the children on recycling, gardening, using the worm farm, conserving water and re-using products. As children are our future generation, we feel it is vital that children understand the importance of caring for the environment to sustain it for years to come.
Professional Development and Reflection
Educators take pride in their roles and are committed to continual improvement by critically reflecting on the best practices for the children and the preschool via meetings and reflection diaries. Children are also included in reflections during group times to ensure their opinions are included. Educators are given opportunities for individualised professional development, advancing their knowledge to continue providing quality early years education.
